I am lost for words and cannot believe that this tragic accident occured and took the life of Paul, a true gent, an excellent firefighter and a man loved by all.
I met Paul on a regular basis when I was on the ambulances at Stevenage Station and every time he saw me, those famous words yelled over the drill yard, "hairdoo" and "barnet" and "muscles", mickey taking was legendary between the services and this remains to this day.
Other memories that stick in my head is when Paul challenged me to put up the Wheeled Escape ladder up the drill tower, Paul 18 stone of muscle and me 8 stone of nothing, there was only going to be one winner!!
Paul completed the task in under 20 seconds and me - nearly 15 minutes, a memory i will treasure.....
My thoughts are frimly with Nicky and all thier friends and family at this tragic time and my colleagues within the Ambulance Service will miss you sorley Paul.
Paul God Bless Mate...................
